This is a lovely purple podded pea which I believe originated in Northern Ireland and is a heritage variety and quite hard to source.
It is hugely productive and has the most beautiful lilac and purple flowers which are also edible. In fact, I sell both the peas and the edible flowers to a local restaraunt. The pods look extremely pretty with the purple skin contrasting with the luscious green peas within.
It is a tall pea around 6 or 7 foot tall so will need the usual staking.
It is quite sweet and I usually eat them raw like sweets off the plant!
Once you have this pea you will want to save the seed every year.
