Jacob's Ladder (Polemonium caeruleum)

Jacob's Ladder is a perennial wildflower known for its delicate, fern-like foliage and clusters of nodding blue to purple flowers that bloom in spring and early summer. It’s a hardy plant that thrives in woodland gardens, borders, and naturalized areas, attracting pollinators like bees and butterflies.

Sowing Indoors:Start seeds 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds on the surface of a seed-starting mix and lightly cover them.
Outdoors:Direct sow in spring after the last frost or in fall.

Location: Prefers partial to full shade but can tolerate light sun.

Soil: Thrives in well-drained, moist, rich soil with organic matter.

Watering:Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry spells, but avoid waterlogging.

Growth: Plants grow to about 1-2 feet tall and typically bloom from late spring to early summer.

Care:Minimal maintenance; deadhead spent flowers to encourage additional blooms. Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Jacob's Ladder is a lovely addition to shady gardens, providing beautiful color and texture with little fuss.
