A beautiful heirloom variety producing deep rose-red fruits with exceptional sweetness and balanced acidity. Known for its smooth texture and rich, old-world tomato flavour, Olena Ukrainia yields reliably even in shorter seasons.
Sowing:
Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost in warm soil (21–27°C). Sow seeds 0.6 cm deep and keep evenly moist until germination.
Planting:
Transplant outdoors after frost risk has passed and night time temperatures remain above 10°C. Space plants 45–60 cm apart with sturdy support (stake or cage). Plant deep—burying part of the stem—to encourage vigorous rooting.
Harvesting:
Harvest when fruits are fully coloured and aromatic, with a slight give to the touch. Full flavour develops when allowed to ripen on the vine.
Fertility Recommendation:
Prefers rich, organic soil enhanced with compost. Apply a balanced organic fertilizer at transplanting and avoid excessive nitrogen to promote strong fruit set instead of leaf growth.
