Viper's bugloss

 Viper's Bugloss (Echium vulgare)

Viper's Bugloss is a striking biennial plant known for its tall spikes of vibrant blue or purple flowers that bloom from late spring to early autumn. It attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies and is often found in wildflower meadows and sunny, dry areas. This hardy plant can tolerate poor soil and drought conditions.

Sowing Indoors:Start seeds indoors in early spring or late winter.

Location: Prefers full sun and well-drained soil but can tolerate partial shade.

Soil: Thrives in poor to moderately fertile soil; avoid overly rich or waterlogged conditions.

Watering: Water sparingly; once established, Viper's Bugloss is drought-tolerant.

Growth: The first year produces a rosette of leaves, with flowering occurring in the second year.

Care: Minimal maintenance required; deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued blooming.

Viper's Bugloss is an excellent addition to naturalized areas and pollinator gardens, offering beautiful blooms and attracting beneficial insects.
