I first grew this in 2025 because the packet said it had some cracking resistance which is always useful for growing tomatoes in a rainy climate!
It is similar to Black Cherry and grows quite tall with long pendulate trusses of cherry sized fruits, some of which can get to impressive sizes and may need support if there are lots of fruit. (I use electric fence tape strung from the greenhouse frame!).
I dont eat tomatoes myself, but I do supply them to the Red Bank Restaraunt at Carrick as well as other local eateries and they are popular, expecially in a mixed punnet with other varieties where the colour really stands out. Like all dark coloured tomatoes, they are said to have a complex flavour, a little different to red varieties. They are quite a Juicy tomato but still have a fleshy exterior.
